Grade 2 Titanium

Titanium tubing is typically used in commercial heat exchanges in grade 2.

6AL-4V TITANIUM TUBING
Primarily used in aircraft applications where strength is required but weight is a critical factor. Ti-6Al-4V has always been the first titanium choice in the aerospace industry. Due to the fact that
it is not a malleable alloy, it is more commonly used in sheet and plate applications. Regardless, there are still some tubular applications where Ti-6AL-4V is used where strength is critical. 

 

Grade 9 Titanium

Titanium tubing is commonly used in aerospace hydraulic lines in grade 9. The motor sports, sports equipment and bicycle markets have also found grade 9 very beneficial to their applications
because of the light-weight and strength of titanium.

Any mass that has to be moved can benefit from the reduced weight that titanium allows, giving quicker acceleration and deceleration. This gain is seen in sports shafts like golf and lacrosse.
Exhaust tubing is a good application for motorcycles where the heat may be less than 800 degrees. Auto racing headers are still being figured out as they see more than 1000 degrees, which
is above the normal operating range of titanium.
